"The Planet" operates 2 state-of-the-art data centers in Dallas, Texas. The Planet's Data Centers are among the best-connected hosting facilities in the world, offering:
  • Complete power redundancy with multiple UPS systems to protect against power outages and multiple generators to ensure that customers are unaffected even in the event of catastrophic power failure.
  • HVAC Cooling System to maintain a constant ambient temperature of 70F
  • State-of-the-art Fire Suppression System
  • World-class Network Connectivity
  • Extensive 24-hour Security System

The facilities sit atop multiple power grids driven by TXU electric, with PowerWare UPS battery backup power and dual diesel generators onsite. The HVAC systems comprise of condenser units by Data Aire to provide redundancy in cooling coupled with ten managed backbone providers. Twelve more third party backbone providers are available in the building via cross connect. Fire suppression includes a pre-action dry pipe system including VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus) with over 700 smoke detectors between the two facilities.

Network Infrastructure
The network architecture utilizes the Enterprise routing and switching engines from Juniper and Cisco. Juniper M20 routers are utilized as border routers and Cisco 6500 series switches in the distribution and aggregation layers. Cisco 3500 and 2900 series switches are utilized at the customer layer. The network is fully meshed and redundant with 10 tier one backbone providers.

The Planet has multiple connections to different Internet backbones, allowing data to be distributed though many sources - meaning that The Planet's network is not dependent upon any single Internet backbone. Should any connection fail the other connections automatically takes over.

Current Internet Backbone Carriers - 19Gbps total.

Our servers in The Planet are powered with clustered failover technology. In the event of a server failure, the failover system will route all traffic to an available server within the cluster (a cluster is a group of servers connected together to share work load). This keeps your website online and improves overall reliability.
